Judging by your description, this is one part of Japanese fauna that we don’t have. Our raucous bird life are uguisu, which have been condemned by T as 下品

I checked out the pheasant call on YouTube. I just typed "fagiano" (the Italian equivalent) and got "pheasant recipes," "roasted pheasant," and "pheasant cacciatora."

Hah! I never thought that you could just do a search for a random bird call on the Tube. The stuff we cram into the digisphere!!

Now, recipes though. Mmmmmm!!!

Pheasants and Quail have been hunted in the UK for centuries. Neither bird is native to New Zealand, yet both have been brought in for the same reason. I had never seen them in the wild until a decade or so ago. The Quail is the American Quail as opposed to the Canadian Quail. You can tell them apart as the Canadian Quail is very polite and unobtrusive, while the American Quail is loud and in your face. It promises to stay around unto its work is done but leaves as soon as their any sign of trouble, or an election looming.

That all might be so. But the Canadian quail has a per capital gun ownership rate almost twice that of the American, smarty pants.
