Hajime Yamaura and his wife Kasumi moved from the rush and costs of Nagoya City back to her family’s uninhabited and decaying home high in the hills of Ehime Prefecture.
I've just turned 60. Recently, my wife and I talk a lot about retirement, money, and how our life will be in ten or twenty years. Sudden illness, or an accident, is what I fear the most.
Beautiful!
Thank you, Mr M!!
I haven't read anything as beautifully told as this in a long, long time.
I need to sit some place alone and think about everything here.
You are way too kind, Neena. I and so many others are lucky to have you as readers.
Thank you, Jack. 🙂
And I'm only being honest when I say this about your writing.
You've been on a roll! Another winning story!
Thank you for reading these, Oleg! I’m honestly grateful if a tale transports readers, if only a bit.
Beautiful
I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Blows, doesn’t it.
Great story !!!!!
Thanks you, M!!
This sounds very much like a town I cycled through while travelling across the inland sea. I couldn't find a town called Ohji, do you know the Kanji?
I am so glad you read it and it rang true! While it’s based on a true story there is plenty of fictionalization in here, including the name Ohji Town.
The fact however that you can imagine the place from personal travels thrills me though!
Thank you. A really lovely piece.
I am so pleased. It came from an actual true story on TV. The moment I saw the segment I knew I wanted to write it. Paint it up, fill it in.
I see you are a "Potsunto Ikken'ya" fan, like me. Or "Gatsunto Ikkren'ya," as I like to call it.
Try to watch it every week! Last night’s was weak but there have been a few memorable ones lately.
